Apprentice - Evelyn Vogel talks about her journey as a body and vehicle builder.
A BLOG interview with Clarissa Ludwig, student intern in marketing.
Hey guys! I'm a 14-year-old intern and I did an exciting interview with Evelyn Vogel.
She is 17 years young and is doing her apprenticeship in vehicle technology at VARIOmobil .
Training as a car body
and vehicle construction mechanic
I [Clarissa] think it's really cool that more and more young women are immersing themselves in male professions, be it as a motor vehicle mechatronics technician, carpenter or body builder! And at VARIOmobil, they get to build really big and mega motorhomes up close.
Evelyn told me that she really enjoys working with metal. When she welds, drills or screws, she feels really alive. "It's physically demanding, but I like that," she says. In the trades , it is particularly important that you enjoy movement and like working with your hands. Evelyn noticed this during her internship at VARIO-mobil and knew immediately that she belonged in the world of crafts.
What I find particularly great is that although Evelyn is the only woman in the team, she does work like any other colleague. "I have the feeling that I'm treated the same here as my male colleagues," she says. This shows that times are changing and that young women in technical professions are gaining more and more recognition.
In her second year of training, Evelyn is even allowed to weld on her own! That's really impressive for a 17-year-old teenager. Her team of trainers supports her and the 3rd-year apprentice is just as much a role model and trainer as the head of the vehicle technology department. It's great to see how important teamwork is in her field. Evelyn emphasizes that working in a team plays a major role for her.
"We help each other and learn from each other,"
she says. Her apprenticeship lasts three and a half years. At the end, she takes a theoretical and practical exam at the Osnabrück Chamber of Crafts.
Evelyn is a real inspiration for young women who want a technical job! Her courage to take off in a typically male profession motivates others to follow the same path. It's just super cool to see how much passion and joy she has for her metal trade. It really makes you want to step on the gas and go your own way !
Workbench instead of school desk
Evelyn produced the metal brackets for wooden benches at VARIOmobil for her former school in Bohmte. The fact that she ended up back at secondary school so soon after leaving school was not planned. But it's great how much she has learned in such a short time!
If you want to find out more about women in technical professions, stay tuned!
Incidentally, there is also a female carpenter in training at VARIOmobil. And conversely, men have also worked in room maintenance or office management.
The only important thing is that your future job is fun and suits you.
Although I still have some time to find my career path, I already have the impression that marketing might not be my first choice. The amount of desk work and PC work doesn't really appeal to me. However, I could well imagine incorporating some of the marketing experience I have gained into my future career. And what about you? Where do you see your visions for the future? An internship at VARIOmobil?
Who knows, maybe the next story will be about yourselves!
